Video: AUSIEX discuss the trading strategies of boomers versus millennials

In a recent interview with ausbiz, Chris Hill, AUSIEX's National Manager of Strategic Relationships, shared insights from our latest white paper 'SMSFs Under Advice'.

During the interview Chris provided insight around:

  • Boomers prefer trading accounts for the flexibility of SMSFs, focusing on direct asset control and fixed income ETFs as they approach retirement.
  • Millennials are increasingly drawn to ETFs, with self-managed super fund assets growing from 6% to nearly 10% in a year. They prioritise global diversification through international ETFs and thematic investments like AI and crypto.
  • Advised clients typically choose ETFs for diversification, while non-advised clients lean towards domestic equities. In times of market volatility and political turbulence, advised clients stay steadier, focusing on secure investments like fixed income.
